Fifteen years! Where did the time go? Often it seems like it was only yesterday, other times it feels like a lifetime ago that I went to massage school, studied like crazy to pass my boards and began Relax! Massage Therapy. Back then it was Relax to the Max Massage and it was just me, working out of my house and wondering how I was going to make my business grow. Even with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, it was overwhelming to be on my own and not dependent on another company for a paycheck. It was liberating and freeing too, as I had only myself to blame for the success or failure of my little fledgling company.
I did a lot of praying back then and a lot of giving to get the business going. I am a big believer in givers gain so I gave away many massages to charity auctions and other functions to help get the word out about the business. I also did a lot of networking! Little by little the business grew and after I began working with business coach Reggie Shropshire, things really began to shift.
I went back to school for my acupuncture degree and it was during this time that Relax underwent a lot of changes. I had to hire other therapists to cover for me while I was at school and thus began the transformation of Relax! from a one woman show to a massage practice that has multiple therapists and could help hundreds of people a week.
We’ve kept growing and giving and helping others! As part of that process we hire only the best therapists in town to continue the legacy that began 15 years ago and continues to this day.
I would be remiss to not include the most important people in this dialogue, our fantastic clients! Without YOU, we would not be where we are today. Some of you have been with us since the very beginning, understanding the value of massage and how it changes your life for the better and we are GRATEFUL for your continued support of Relax!
Thank you and we look forward to another 15 years in Wilmington, helping people heal and feel better, one massage at a time!
Please come to our open house to help us celebrate our 15 years of continued growth. As part of our commitment to giving back to the community, 15% of all profits from the month of July will go to WARM, Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry, to help this terrific non-profit help others.
